about @yogadebralondon

My yoga classes are gently challenging, focusing on breath and using it to aid movement and also encourage the relaxation response.

I have been teaching since 2016. For me yoga is about making time and space for healing and healthy ageing. Trying to bring back everyday functional movement. Over time, the stresses and strains of growing up, of life causes tension, stiffness, injuries and aches. Through yoga, we can try to find ease with ourselves and find a way to move with freedom and flow.
As an accredited Menopause Yoga teacher, I run specialist workshops for menopause inc peri/post-menopause but even within my general classes I subtly integrate these learnings/teachings into my classes where appropriate.

I offer adaptable and accessible yoga - providing props, options and encouragement that you are working to your own capacity. I aim to provide a safe and nurturing environment in small groups which allows for a friendly and supportive group dynamic.

Having spent 2 years running yoga sessions at a Recovery cafe for people with mental health issues I have experience teaching accessible & adaptable classes for a wide range of people with both physical and mental health issues.

I transitioned comfortably to teaching all my classes on Zoom within the first week of the first Covid lockdown. By nature I love adapting and finding practical solutions. I continue to run 3 classes a week via Zoom with the same groups as I started with with a few ebbs and flows here and there.

In 2022 I foudna new venue near me and set up a lovely class. I found a need for a gentler class too that wasn’t served by anyone so started an additional 2nd gentle yoga class. It is a lovely community cafe near me and especially the 2nd class love to chat and connect over a coffee (or herbal tea!) after class. They are both yoga classes that are easily accessible from Streatham, Streatham Hill, Brixton Hill and Tulse Hill.

HOW do i choose a yoga style/class

Firstly I say try different classes, a lot depends if you like the teacher, secondly their style works for you at this moment in time. Remember, that too might change depending on where you are at with your life.

People, like their bodies, are different too. Some people ‘need’ to push themselves and do a fast dynamic yoga, others ‘need’ a more laid back style. What do you think you would like to do and what do you actually need? Perhaps your wants and needs are aligned. Perhaps you actually ‘need’ to push yourself a bit, perhaps you ‘need’ to slow down a bit.

Try some classes and find out what works for you.
